Senior executives are often forced – through pressure of higher-level daily activities –
to run on faith that their pursuit and bid teams are operating efficiently, and in direct support of the organisation's strategic objectives.
This isn't always the case. Far more often than not, there is considerable scope for improvement. Where this goes unidentified and unaddressed, companies sacrifice substantial income potential. Meantime, inadequate processes or ineffectively deployed resources cause considerable hard dollar wastage.
In a business-to-business enterprise, in which business development and bid teams drive the bottom line, it's incumbent upon senior executives to avail themselves of a closer, and more regular, proficiency analysis at this level.
I undertake detailed, hands-on analyses of business development and bid team processes, as well as of the use of available skill sets and resources, the quality of outputs, the scope for improved results, and the alignment of these teams' actions with higher-level, strategic goals.
My recommendations are either implemented internally and independently of me, or they are supported by closely customised coaching programs that address the specific scope for improvement that I have identified in the diagnostic stage.
